La Maddalena

The Archipelago of the Maddalena is an incredible heritage site, with 5,000 hectares of land and 13,000 hectares of clear water, protected by the National Park. The fisherman's village is found in the centre of the Maddalena, whereas the Garibaldi Piazza, filled with cafés and restaurants, is the heart of the island. You can also see the house of the “hero of 2 worlds” on the isle of Caprera. In comparison, the other islands are almost uninhabited and each possess a unique charm. Spargi gets its name from the wild asparagus that cover the island in the spring. Budelli is famous for its rose-coloured sand beaches and Razzoli for the ruggedness of its territory. Santa Maria has few homes and is the home of flamingo's, heron's and seagulls which are found in its pond.
